Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Pratt is an organic chemist and international authority on the chemistry of free radicals. He addresses questions about chemical reaction mechanisms in both industrial and biological contexts. He is best known for his contributions to understanding mechanisms of hydrocarbon autoxidation and their inhibition by radical-trapping antioxidants. During his time in Germany, he will explore the role of lipid autoxidation in oxidative cell death and the development of small molecules to subvert it as potential therapeutic agents. |
